Stroke isn’t just something that happens to older people. A quarter of all strokes in the UK happen to people of working age and stroke in younger people is rising. This May, for Stroke Awareness Month, Different Strokes has launched a brand-new free online guide.
Stroke Doesn’t Care About Your Age is packed with everything you need to understand stroke from spotting the signs to prevention, and the inequalities faced by Black and South Asian communities who are at significantly higher risk. Because when stroke strikes in your thirties, forties, or fifties, the impact is huge – careers disrupted, families turned upside down, and hidden challenges like fatigue and memory problems.
One of the most dangerous myths we still hear? “You’re too young to have had a stroke.” In stroke, every minute matters and being dismissed because of age costs lives.
Support our work:
Everything Different Strokes does – our helpline, peer support groups, exercise sessions, and rehabilitation bursary is funded entirely through donations and fundraising.
We receive no government funding. Taking part in or supporting an awareness event directly helps us reach more younger stroke survivors who need us.
Ready to make a difference? Visit www.differentstrokes.co.uk/fundraise to donate or start your own fundraiser.
Together, let’s make sure no one faces stroke alone.
