The Art of Recovery - Competition

This May we invite you to share your explorations into stroke recovery and life after stroke in the form of art or poetry.

Art has long been a way to express difficult feelings and experiences that otherwise may not be spoken. In fact according to the organisation, Painting In Hospitals, art therapy for stroke survivors has been found to significantly decrease depression, improve physical functions and increase quality of life compared with conventional physical therapy alone.

We are running an art and poetry competition, the categories are:

Art: No boundaries or limits on theme or medium - let your imagination run wild! (ages 16+)

Prize: £50

Poetry: Whether its spoken word or written word, all forms of poetry accepted. (ages 16+)

Prize: £50

Children's Art & Poetry: Children under 16 can submit poetry and art -so get the whole family involved!

Prize: £20

At the end of the competition, a winner will be selected in each category. The prizes have been kindly donated anonymously by one of our supporters and we send thanks to them for their generosity.

You can enter the art competition, poetry competition or both.

After you have signed up you will need to send pictures of your art or submit your poetry via email info@differentstrokes.co.uk.

Competition Terms & Conditions

We may share your work publicly on social media or in future publications, fully credited to you as the artist and owner.
You must agree to share your work to enter the competition.
Submission for entries must be made on or before Monday 31^st May.
The competition winners will be announced early June.
The children’s competition is for children under the age of 16.
The judges decision is final.
There will be one £50 prize for the art competiton, one £50 prize for the poetry competition and one £20 prize for the children’s competition. These prizes have been donated by a supporter anonymously.
