At the time, it was such a slow process that I practically gave up and said I couldn’t do this anymore!! Until one day, my three-year-old boy saw me crying and asked,
“Daddy, why are you sad? Let’s go play football. Football makes Daddy happy.”

From that one conversation with him, I can’t express how hard I pushed myself.

Whenever I told anyone, I’d had several strokes, I was met with the typical
“You’re too young for a stroke” or
“Oh well I’m glad you’ve recovered”.

Yes, I may physically on the outside look recovered, but the internal turmoil caused has been the most difficult part for me.
