Rhiannon’s Story – Stroke at 19

In this video we sit down and talk with Rhiannon Parker-Nicholls about her stroke experience after she survived multiple strokes aged 19. Rhiannon talks about feeling abandoned after leaving Hospital, learning to read again and how contacting Different Strokes led to a meeting which saved her life. Rhiannon’s stroke was caused by the rare disorder Antiphospholipid Syndrome also known as Hughes Syndrome.

This is Rhiannon’s story. We recognise that the Different Strokes community of younger stroke survivors and family members are the experts in stroke recovery and rehabilitation with first-hand knowledge of the issues and challenges facing families after stroke.  Different Strokes is run by younger stroke survivors for younger stroke survivors. We have personal experience of the realities of life after stroke.
