All New Resources for Children of Stroke Survivors

Different Strokes is excited to share our new resources tailored for the children of stroke survivors. These resources are here to help kids understand and talk about what happens when someone they love has a stroke.

Our “Someone I Love Had a Stroke” resources include three different resources: a beautiful storybook for children aged 3-7, a booklet for kids aged 8-12, and a helpful guide for teens aged 13-18.

We’ve been working on these resources for the past eight months, getting feedback from stroke survivors and their partners, professionals, and most importantly, kids who have been through this themselves. Their input helped us create something special to support these important conversations. We’re really thankful to all the families and professionals who shared their stories and made this project possible.

These resources are full of stories, activities, and facts to help kids to understand what has happened and to express their feelings and talk openly with their families. Our goal is to make it easier for both the young people and their loved ones as they navigate life after a stroke.

As an organisation dedicated to supporting younger stroke survivors and their families, we’re delighted to be able to provide these. For free to families where a care-giver of a child has been impacted by stroke. We hope you’ll check out “Someone I Love Had a Stroke” on our website and share the link with anyone who would benefit from them.

A big thank you to our amazing illustrator, Laura Trinder, for bringing these stories to life. Special thanks to our corporate supporters, Ipsen and Bolt Burdon Kemp, for making this project possible and funding our first print run.
