Introducing NeuroFlow – Tai Chi for Stroke Survivors

We are excited to announce that we have joined forces with NeuroFlow Tai Chi to deliver FREE Tai Chi sessions every Monday starting on Monday 6th July 2020.

Following on from our successful live exercise sessions, we will shortly be commencing online tai chi. This will involve 30 minutes of practice followed by questions and answers, at 4.00pm every Monday. Classes will be led and Dr Giles Yeates (Tai Chi Instructor & Clinical Neuropsychologist).

Each session will involve an introduction to the session, a core practice element (focusing on a small number of movements each week, with options for seated/standing/unilateral and bilateral movement) and then a Q&A based on the chat and comments. Comments will be monitored by Alison Smith (Tai Chi Instructor & Stroke Survivor). The Core themes of breathing, bodily relaxation, flow state experience and social companionship of everyone training together will be emphasised.

The sessions will take place at 4pm LIVE on our Facebook Page and later uploaded to our YouTube channel.

The video below is an overview of the benefits of Tai Chi for stroke survivors and a taster session. The relaxing benefits of Tai Chi can include having a positive influence on many aspects of stroke recovery, particularly with fatigue – which impacts a lot of people in our community.

There will also be the opportunity to take part in research to see how these sessions benefit you and your recovery. We are so excited to be offering this new service and we hope you will join us on Monday 6th July at 4pm.
