Incredible Success at the London Landmarks Half Marathon

On April 6th, 18 amazing runners gathered in the heart of London to participate in the London Landmarks Half Marathon – a unique run that winds its way through both the City of London and City of Westminster, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and hidden treasures of the capital.

This year’s event proved to be a spectacular success for Different Strokes, as the team of runners raised an incredible total of £18,599 to support younger stroke survivors and their families.

Stories that Inspire

Participants shared moving personal stories that resonated deeply with many in our community:

  • Stuart Masters raised £2,600 while running to honor fellow stroke survivors who face challenges every day. Stuart’s participation was driven by his personal recovery journey, and he aimed not only to improve on his previous achievements but also to represent those unable to run.

  • Gemma Inggall, who raised £1,800, shared her experience of recovering from a stroke at the age of 40. Her story, from the initial shock to regaining independence, highlights the ongoing challenges of stroke recovery while also emphasizing the strength of community support.

  • Monica Secretan raised £475, achieving a personal best in her race. Monica’s accomplishment, along with those of her fellow runners, adds to the collective success of this fundraising effort.

These heartfelt stories, among others from the 18 dedicated runners, are a shining example of our community. Their collective efforts have provided crucial funding and have helped raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by younger stroke survivors.
