Have Your Say on the NHS’s Ten-Year Plan

The NHS has launched a consultation on its new ten-year plan, aiming to transform how healthcare is delivered across England. This plan could significantly impact those affected by stroke, with the NHS focusing on making healthcare more accessible, technology-driven, and preventative. Now, they are inviting feedback from individuals and organisations to help shape these goals. At Different Strokes, we’re eager to ensure that the voices of stroke survivors and their families are included.

Key Changes in the NHS Ten-Year Plan

The NHS plan focuses on three major shifts in healthcare delivery that will be especially relevant to the stroke community:

  • Bringing Care Closer to Home: Making healthcare more community-based, ensuring that services are available near where people live.

  • Moving from Analogue to Digital: Expanding digital health tools, such as telehealth appointments, online monitoring, and digital support networks, to increase access to care.

  • Emphasising Prevention: Prioritising public health initiatives and early intervention to help prevent strokes before they happen, including education and support for lifestyle changes to reduce risk factors like high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Have Your Say

The NHS wants feedback from people with personal experience of stroke—whether you’re a stroke survivor, carer, or family member.

You can share your thoughts on:

  • Which areas the NHS should prioritise in planning for stroke care.
  • Your experiences with NHS stroke services and how they could improve.
  • Ideas for supporting stroke recovery and prevention within the community.
To share your feedback as an individual, you can find the consultation details using the link here:

The closing date for this is Monday 2nd December 2024.

Our Response as an Organisation

Different Strokes will be submitting an organisational response to represent our community’s voice. If you’d like to add your thoughts to our submission, please email us at info@differentstrokes.co.uk. We welcome any insights that help ensure stroke survivors’ needs are a priority in the NHS’s ten-year plan.

This consultation is an important opportunity to influence the future of NHS services. Together, we can help create a healthcare system that better supports stroke survivors and their families.
