In an empowering display of resilience and determination, the Different Strokes Orbit Abseil event on Saturday, 9th September, soared to success, overcoming unexpected hurdles and scorching temperatures.
Braving the sweltering 30-degree heat, our extraordinary participants embarked on their abseiling adventure amidst the lively backdrop of a bustling football match at Stratford Park. Who could have predicted that YouTubers playing football would draw such an enthusiastic crowd?!
The true triumph, however, lies in this remarkable fact: everyone made it! Despite the sweltering conditions and the excitement of the football match! Our team of brave abseilers’ determination remained unwavering.
We are immensely proud of each and every participant, particularly those who faced mobility challenges and embarked on long journeys to be part of this event. Even in the face of adversity, they tackled the abseil with infectious smiles and hearts brimming with courage.
The team is closing in on their ambitious £12,000 target, factoring in gift aid, and we’re thrilled to announce that there’s still time to contribute by donating HERE
Different Strokes, Fundraising Manager Jo Aurora shared, “This event has been nothing short of extraordinary. The resilience and spirit displayed by our participants is truly heartwarming. We’re on the cusp of achieving our fundraising goal, and it’s all thanks to the unwavering support of our community.
I am so grateful to the participants, their families, and friends who shared in the heart-pounding moments and to the incredibly generous sponsors who supported them, one thing is clear: you are all truly amazing!”
