The Community Comes Together in Sheffield and Reading

In October, we held our first in-person events since the pandemic. At the heart of these events was the enduring power of peer support. Over the years we have come to understand that the most valuable moments at these gatherings are when survivors and their families connect, sharing their experiences and offering each other support and inspiration.

We were lucky to have fantastic speakers at each event. The wonderful Jennie Gow took to the stage at Reading, less than a year after her stroke. Her vulnerability and relatable insights touched the hearts of many. Laughter and tears were shared, reinforcing the understanding that stories have the power to heal and connect.

Carole Pyke, our inspirational speaker at the Sheffield event, motivated and uplifted all those in attendance with her words, leaving many thinking of how they can take charge of their recoveries and expectations.

These events were a celebration of the power of community. In a world that had grown accustomed to virtual connections, we were reminded that there is no substitute for the magic of in-person interaction.
