Help develop the NICE guideline on Subarachnoid haemorrhage due to a ruptured aneurysm

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) produces guidance on the most effective ways to prevent, diagnose and treat disease and ill health, and provide social care support. Our guidance is based on research evidence and takes into account the views of people working in or using relevant services, and other stakeholder groups.

NICE are looking for: 

People who have an understanding of subarachnoid haemorrhage (an uncommon type of stroke caused by bleeding on the surface of the brain) caused by a ruptured aneurysm (bulge in a blood vessel). This understanding could have been gained:

• through personal experience you have of treatment and care provided for you by the NHS
• as a relative or unpaid carer of someone who has used relevant health services
• as a volunteer or employee of a relevant voluntary organisation or support group.

The committee will not be looking at subarachnoid haemorrhage caused by head injury, ischaemic stroke (which occur when a blood clot blocks the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain) or an arteriovenous malformation (a tangle of abnormal and poorly developed blood vessels connecting arteries to veins). The committee developing this guidance will look at how to diagnose and treat subarachnoid haemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm, as well as how to provide follow-up care (including patient information).
