Relationships can change in many ways after a stroke.
From partners and spouses to family members, friendships and even your relationship with yourself, stroke can have a profound impact on how we connect with others and navigate day-to-day life.
That’s why we’re pleased to invite you to our next free Different Strokes webinar:
Relationships After Stroke
Tuesday 30 June at 3.30pm
Online via Zoom
In this important session, we’ll be joined by Dr Giles Yeates, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, relationships expert and couples’ therapist.
Dr Yeates specialises in supporting people and families to navigate the emotional and practical changes that can happen after stroke and brain injury. He is also a Tai Chi instructor and has extensive experience helping people rebuild confidence, communication and connection after life-changing health events.
During the webinar, Dr Yeates will explore how relationships of all kinds can be affected after stroke from the perspective of everyone involved, including:
- Stroke survivors
- Partners and spouses
- Parents and children
- Family members
- Friends and wider support networks
The session will look at some of the challenges stroke can bring to relationships, including changes in communication, roles, expectations, emotional wellbeing and intimacy, while also offering practical insight and advice for moving forward.
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
We encourage you to submit any questions in advance when registering, and as always, there will also be the opportunity to ask questions live during the webinar.
Whether your stroke was recent or many years ago, or whether you are supporting someone after stroke, this webinar will offer valuable insight, reassurance and practical guidance.
