Come and find out more about our Stroke Support Group in York

We are a support group for people who have had a stroke or brain injury and who want to remain active.

We are differently abled, NOT disabled!

What we do

We offer a friendly and informal group environment for all stroke survivors, their partners, carers and friends to share experiences, problems, information and advice.

A group of people are sitting in a circle at a stroke peer support meeting. Their hands are visible and they look deep in conversation.

As well as chatting and helping one another, the Stroke Support Group York also aims to have 30 – 45 minutes of stroke-related exercise or therapy every week.  These activities include: seated yoga, seated dance, gym, drumming and singing.

Additional social events, such as, visits to local attractions and ten-pin bowling are organised throughout the year.

Read about our Group Coordinator Chris O’Neill who won the Different Strokes Peter Shave Volunteer of the Year Award 2023 HERE.

One of our group members has shared their survivor story which you can read HERE.
