We’re delighted to announce the launch of a new corporate membership scheme. This builds on our long-standing relationship with Irwin Mitchell, Bolt Burdon Kemp and most recently Fletchers, by expanding our legal support offer by bringing onboard Slater and Gordon to strengthen the support available to stroke survivors within our community.
For a number of years, Irwin Mitchell and Bolt Burdon Kemp have worked closely with Different Strokes to support stroke survivors and their families, providing trusted expertise and guidance across a wide range of legal issues. As our charity and community continue to grow, this new scheme brings greater structure to those established relationships while offering increased choice, accessibility and resilience for the people we support.
The impact of a stroke can raise complex questions, from medical treatment and rehabilitation to employment, finances, housing and long‑term care.
Legal needs can vary widely, and no single firm can be the right fit for every situation.
By formalising our approach and working with a small group of carefully selected specialist firms, Different Strokes aims to ensure stroke survivors and their families can access clear, relevant legal information and be signposted to the most appropriate expertise for their individual circumstances.
Through the corporate membership scheme, our community will benefit from:
- Clear, accessible information to help stroke survivors and their families understand when legal advice may be helpful
- Easy access to trusted specialist legal firms, via dedicated pages on our website
- A simple guide to legal support, shared through our newsletter and networks
- Sponsorship of our biannual newsletters and July 2026 conference, helping us to continue to deliver vital information and events
- Free webinars and legal clinics, giving survivors the opportunity to ask questions on topics that matter to them
- More training and educational support for our staff and volunteers, helping us better support the communities we serve.
This approach allows us to build on what already works, while ensuring our services remain responsive to the diverse and evolving needs of stroke survivors.
"We’ve worked with both Irwin Mitchell and Bolt Burdon Kemp for a number of years, building a great relationship with them, and we were delighted to enter into a partnership with Fletchers Solicitors last year. With the addition of Slater and Gordon as a partner, the time felt right to introduce more structure to our relationship with legal firms, and we are therefore delighted that we are able to commence this corporate membership scheme. This is very much a win-win situation, where we will have additional funds coming into the organisation which will support various charitable activity including newsletters and events, and where the firms will benefit from the opportunities that come from partnering with an organisation that supports stroke survivors, but most of all for our beneficiaries, who will be able to receive relevant legal advice from any one of four leading legal firms. I must pay tribute to our partners for being so open to collaborating with ourselves and each other, and I very much looking forward to these relationships going from strength to strength in the months and years to come.”
Austin Willett, CEO of Different Strokes
The partnership will officially go live on 1st April 2026.
