“Through Different Strokes I have had the privilege to meet so many wonderful and inspiring people – survivors, family members and friends, health workers and volunteers – many of whom have also helped me through my stroke journey. If it was not for my own family and the Different Strokes family being there for me I would not have been able to do as much as I have.

To be given the ‘Unsung Hero Volunteer’ award is a great honour (a total surprise!) and something that I will hold most dear with very cherished memories.  Thank you.”

Olga Mathews: Peter Shave Volunteer of the Year 2015-2016

Nominated in recognition of her amazing work as Volunteer Facebook Administrator for the Different Strokes Facebook support group at www.facebook.com/groups/differentstrokesuk/. Award made in memory of Different Strokes volunteer Peter Shave who passed away in 2012.
