Reclaim Abseil 2020
2020 is our Reclaim year and we are excited to include our abseil as one of our Reclaim fundraising events.
When is the abseil?
This year the abseil will take place on Saturday 23rd May at the ArcelorMittal Orbit, Stratford Park, London. We are now taking bookings for this fantastic day.
What to expect?
Our previous abseils have been emotional days where most of the participants are stroke survivors, all with varying degrees of mobility. It’s a day when obstacles to taking part are removed, fears are overcome and feelings of pride and achievement are high.
Yes it’s scary, we won’t lie! but you are in safe hands with the Wire & Sky Team who are brilliant at assisting physically and emotionally.

What do I need to do to take part?
The abseil is free, but you will be required to make your own way to the Orbit. Bear in mind that there are costs to the charity to hire the Orbit and to cover staffing etc, we therefore ask that you aim to raise a minimum of £300 in sponsorship.

Why do you ask for a minimum sponsorship?
The minimum sponsorships are set to cover the costs associated with buying the places from the organisers, t-shirts, administration and support. We hope to cover these costs and have a surplus which supports our annual fundraising targets. These targets are set based on what we want to achieve with regards to providing services and support to younger stroke survivors and our aspirations increase each year! With no government funding Different Strokes relies on funding from such events and we are grateful to everyone who supports us in this way.
