We’re delighted to welcome Summer to the Different Strokes team as our new Community Administrator. Based at our Milton Keynes office, Summer will be working part-time to provide dedicated administrative support to our incredible volunteer-led groups across the UK.
Our volunteer groups are at the heart of Different Strokes — offering friendship, advice, and peer support to younger stroke survivors in local communities. Summer’s role will be vital in helping to coordinate and strengthen that network, ensuring each group has the support and resources they need to continue their amazing work.
With a strong background in volunteer coordination and a lifelong passion for community work, Summer brings valuable experience and enthusiasm to the team.
“My background is in supporting volunteers in all kinds of places and with people from all walks of life,” says Summer. “I care deeply for the charity sector and the real impact we have. While I haven’t had a stroke myself, I am disabled and so I empathise with the experiences of anyone whose condition profoundly affects their life. Support groups are essential for many of us and I’m looking forward to being a part of this. I have massive respect for what our volunteers do, and this will be at the heart of what I do at Different Strokes.”
Originally from Essex and now living in Milton Keynes, Summer brings both professional expertise and personal insight to the role. Outside of work, she volunteers for a mental health helpline, enjoys reading fiction and playing video games, and is currently completing a counselling qualification — further reflecting her commitment to supporting others and understanding lived experience.
With a background of working with volunteers and a passion for volunteering herself, Summer is a great addition to our charity. Her skills and compassion will make a real difference to the support we provide to our local groups.
We’re thrilled to have Summer on board and can’t wait to see the positive impact she’ll bring to our community of stroke survivors, carers, and volunteers.
Welcome to the team, Summer!
