32 brave contenders took on a huge challenge!

On Sunday 8th April 32 brave contenders took on a huge challenge all in aid of Different Strokes. They set out to abseil down The ArcelorMittal Orbit, which stands tall as the UK’s tallest sculpture, part of the Olympic Park in Stratford, East London.

The day was overcast but the spirit in the building was beautiful. Many of those taking part where stroke survivors or have a close personal connection to stroke. For survivors who are members of our online support group, it allowed an opportunity to meet with peer’s who had supported them on their stroke journey. We laughed, we cried, and we even screamed! Alongside our valiant survivors we welcomed a fantastic team of 12 from Sainsbury’s Logistics Team, who are currently supporting us as their charity of the year.

In total our 32 brave souls have raised a fantastic £11,000 so far! This is a HUGE amount and will have such an impact on our charity. This amount is almost enough to run our information line for a year!

We can’t convey with words what a humbling and amazing day it was, but we did invite a videographer along on the day and will share videos with you soon…!

Thank you, THANK YOU, thank you to all those who took part or sponsored or supported those who did. We in awe of the bravery demonstrated on the day and are so grateful that Different Strokes and stroke survivors across the UK will benefit from your determination, generosity, and kindness!

If you would like to show your support, you can still sponsor and read the stories of our team HERE!
