By now you, hopefully, will have seen the communication which has been shared widely with all who have an interest in Different strokes which details the fantastic work which has resulted in our sign-off by the Sustainability Fund and the exciting outcomes for Different Strokes as we move forward.
I wish to share with you all the news that Eileen Gambrell has decided that this is a good time to move on from Different Strokes and she will therefore be leaving us this coming Friday 21st July.
Whilst Eileen’s shoes will be almost impossible to fill, I am thrilled for her that she leaves us on a high point having lead the work on the sustainability project which provides a spring board to drive Different Strokes for many years to come. She can be rightly proud of her recent achievements but there are many things that Eileen has to be proud of in her service to younger stroke survivors and those who care for us.
Eileen was among those who founded the charity 21 years ago and helped Donal O’Kelly establish it as a foundation block helping survivors like me reclaim my life. Her drive, enthusiasm, empathy, easy manner, sound business acumen and so much more have seen Different Strokes through to this point where it is probably the most sustainable and focused that it has ever been.
Like so many of you, I was lucky enough to speak to Eileen when I first contacted the charity at my lowest point following my stroke and I will always be grateful for the help and support she willingly gave going far beyond that which anyone could expect.
It is a privilege to have been able to work with her over recent years and be the one to thank her on behalf of you all for her commitment at both a personal level and as a dedicated employee. None of us should be sad at her departure, this should be a time for celebration at what she and therefore Different Strokes are and i thank her on behalf of the Trustees and all involved with Different Strokes for all that she has done. We wish her the greatest success in all her future endeavors.
